What It Is
Unstructured Data In. Verified Records Out.
Document data extraction converts raw identity document information — photos, scans, or NFC taps — into clean, structured data your systems can instantly use.
Using a combination of OCR, AI document intelligence, and NFC chip reading, Qoobiss handles passports, national IDs, residence permits, and driver's licenses — across countries and formats — without any manual input.
Every extraction includes format validation, MRZ cross-checking, and cryptographic chip verification, so the data you receive is accurate, tamper-proof, and audit-ready from day one.
HOW IT WORKS
Two Technologies. One Seamless Extraction.
Qoobiss combines OCR and NFC into a single automated pipeline — no manual steps, no human review. OCR-Based Extraction.
The document is scanned and straightened automatically. AI identifies the document type and country, then maps data fields using template recognition. Machine learning validates format patterns, cross-checks the MRZ, and outputs clean structured data. NFC-Based Extraction For chip-enabled IDs and ePassports, your device reads the embedded NFC chip directly.
Cryptographic checks confirm the chip hasn't been tampered with. The digitally signed data — guaranteed by the issuing country — is extracted instantly and compared against the visual surface. Both methods feed into the same structured output, giving you a single verified record — accurate, tamper-proof, and audit-ready.

Document Data Extraction (OCR & NFC)
Document data extraction is an automated process where unstructured identity document information is converted into structured, system-ready data. It enables accurate extraction of data from passports, any national ID cards, residence permits, and driver’s licenses. This eliminates manual entry and can accelerate workflows. Using OCR, AI-based document intelligence, and NFC chip reading, the technology increases data accuracy, strengthens fraud detection, and supports regulatory compliance requirements. With document data extraction (OCR & NFC), all documents are scanned to identify any risks and ensure compliance with jurisdictional regulations.
What is Document Data Extraction?
When extracting data from documents, our tool uses AI, OCR, and NFC to improve speed and reduce human errors. This takes any unstructured data and turns it into structured data that can easily be analyzed or integrated into other systems. With OCR, the tool takes images or scanned documents and turns them into text that is searchable. AI document data extraction is used to identify any context and will classify the document. NFC extraction involves the use of an encrypted chip that contains personal details.
Manual data extraction can lead to errors and extend the time needed to complete the onboarding process. With automated document data extraction, organizations can reduce the processing time while providing better security measures for customers. As a scalable solution, the document data extraction software can easily handle an increase in volume while delivering high-quality data.
OCR-Based Document Data Extraction
OCR data extraction combines with AP and machine learning to automatically extract data from different fields. Optical Character Recognition scans documents to identify characters that are handwritten or printed. These characters are then transformed into digital formats. Unstructured data cannot be used, and the OCR-based data extraction system turns this into structured data in the form of an editable document.
The process starts with scanning the document. Any skewed images will be straightened, and the document type will be identified. Template recognition and feature-based matching enable the system to accurately map data fields according to document type and country. Machine learning models detect field regions, validate format patterns (e.g., date formats, document numbers), and apply consistency checks across extracted attributes. Regions of the document are identified using pattern matching, feature extraction, and machine learning.
Once the text from the document is recognized, the software will extract data and organize it into a format that is easy to read. Tables and images are converted, and AI identifies the table to locate rows and columns. OCR is then applied to all cells to read the text. For field extraction, certain areas of the document are defined, and the OCR data extraction software will read the data only from these areas. Passports and ID Cards make use of Machine Readable Zones. Data extraction using OCR will then validate all extracted data against the digits within the MRZ.
With document digitalization and data extraction, structured data is created to improve accuracy and streamline workflows. AI OCR data extraction also improves efficiency and lowers operational costs.
NFC-Based Data Extraction for Electriconic IDs
Near-Field Communication, or NFC data extraction, for IDs will involve using technology to scan an embedded chip in ID Cards or ePassports. This method is a secure way to extract any encrypted information, enhancing fraud protection. All data stored in the chip will be digitally signed by the country that has issued the ID. This ensures that no information has been altered. NFC ID card reading is done using an NFC reader, which is often a smartphone.
NFC passport chip data access is obtained using smartphone sensors to read and decrypt data stored in the chip. This ensures accurate document data extraction and prevents any type of document tapering. Extracting data from a chip helps to prevent fraud by using cryptographic checks to ensure that the chip has not been tampered with in any way. As an instantaneous process, electronic ID NFC reading delivers enhanced security when onboarding new customers.
As a contactless process, NFC-based identity verification is completely secure and offers extreme accuracy by comparing data on the chip with a live selfie to lower the chances of fraud. It is a fast and secure way to eliminate manual data entry and prevent any cases of document forgery.
How Document & NFC Data Extraction Supports KYC
NFC document reading supports KYC by delivering an accurate and fast way to verify the identity of any customer. Organizations can verify identities within seconds while remaining compliant with all international regulations. Documentary data extraction for KYC reads any encrypted data from the chip in a passport or ID. This ensures the document is not forged and is authentic. Having tamper-proof data and biometric verification enhances the KYC process during onboarding.
Fraud prevention is also enhanced with the use of id document data extraction. Since the data is directly extracted from the encrypted chip within the document, there is no way for the information to be tampered with. This validates the authenticity of the document and prevents forgery. KYC and AML compliance is achieved by verifying documents at a chip level instead of relying on visual checks. With OCR, the visual surface of an ID is scanned. Electronic ID NFC reading extracts the data right from the embedded chip, making it impossible for a document or ID to be forged. This process of identity verification data extraction effectively prevents forgery, which is an essential component of AML compliance.
Security, Accuracy & Compliance
Security accuracy and compliance are essential when organizations are onboarding new customers. With document data extraction, secure workflows are implemented to protect data and adhere to GDPR. Securing all data during extraction is important. This data often includes sensitive information. To ensure security, all data must be encrypted. Our secure document data extraction tools can read this encrypted data and automatically verify the information.
Accuracy is another important factor when using data extraction. By replacing manual data entry, automated id document data extraction increases reliability and eliminates human error. Accurate document data extraction uses validated checks to identify any errors or to detect anomalies. In some cases, scans of documents may be of poor quality or have inconsistent formatting. Using OCR data extraction can ensure higher accuracy when retrieving data.
The document extraction process helps organizations remain compliant. With compliance document extraction, the origin of the data and any changes are tracked. This information is then included in audit logs. Compliance is ensured by securely and accurately extracting data from government IDs and passports while maintaining industry standards by providing traceable data trails.
Many industries must adhere to retention regulations regarding the storage and management of ID documents. Compliance document data extraction meets these regulations and ensures that all data required for regulatory filings is accurate and available. AML regulations are also met by automating the capture of data. With intelligent document data extraction, all necessary information is stored and recorded accurately.
